The facility is maintained by certified staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Jail Staff are not allowed to pass messages to inmates.   All inmates have access to telephone and texting services provided through an outside vendor, Reliance Telephone www.reliancetelephone.com to fund inmate account for communications.

Mail determined to have obscenities will be placed into Inmates property to have upon release.

Inmates can also order commissary services through outside vendor Turnkey Corrections.  Orders need to be placed by 9pm on Monday, for Wednesday delivery from warehouse.    Friends and Family can go to https://team3.inmatecanteen.com/#/ and create a user account, and deposit money on imates books, post bond, or order canteen items to be delivered to said facility.   Fees are solely setup and those of Turnkey Corrections, fees are not associated with the Shelby County Jail.

If you need to setup jail time to be served, you will need to call 712-755-5026 Option 2 and setup date and time with jail staff.  Work release, upong approval from the courts in your sentencing order will require approval prior to arriving at jail.  This can be setup by contact Jail Administration prior to seek approval.   All work release upon approval will be required to wear a GPS unit while in custody and control of the Shelby County Jail.    Failure to have approval prior to arrival at jail, may delay your release in getting out.
